Why
SADD, in partnership with The National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF) wants you to come up with ideas on how to create safer roadways by sharing the road with large and commercial vehicles, such as delivery trucks, tow trucks, or even school buses.
Each year, crashes involving large vehicles result in serious injuries and fatalities—many of which could be prevented with better awareness. By learning key safety tips, such as staying out of a truck’s blind spots, maintaining a safe following distance, and being cautious when passing, teens can reduce their risk of crashes and help make roads safer for everyone.
Teens listen to other teens. By creating a Public Service Announcement (PSA) focused on truck safety, students can use their voices to educate and influence their peers in ways that adults or traditional safety messages might not. A well-crafted PSA can spread crucial information in an engaging, relatable way..
